Glassport is a small river town about 15 miles southeast of Pittsburgh along the Monongahela River. Take I-376 east to the Homestead exit, then follow Route 837 south through several old industrial communities. The town of 4,400 sits in a narrow valley between steep hills and the river, typical of western Pennsylvania's geography. Glassport gets its name from the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company, which ran a major plant here from 1902 to 1993.
