Freeland, PA

Freeland is a small mountain town in northeastern Pennsylvania's former coal country, about 15 miles south of Wilkes-Barre. Route 309 runs right through the center, connecting it north to Scranton and south to Hazleton. Interstate 81 provides the main highway access about 15 miles west. The town sits at a higher elevation, so winters are snowy and summers stay cool. A historic clock tower marks the downtown intersection where Routes 309 and 940 meet.
