Elvington, York

Elvington lies 8km southeast of York along the A1079 Hull road, a village built around its wartime airfield heritage. The flat Vale of York countryside here is crossed by the B1228 from Dunnington, whilst the A64 bypass provides wider connections. Most traffic consists of York commuters making the 15-minute journey into the city. Yorkshire Air Museum occupies the original RAF bomber station where Halifax aircraft flew missions during the Second World War.
