Elim is a proper Overberg gem, just off the R319 between Bredasdorp and Gansbaai, with Cape Town about 221 km up the N2 and through Caledon. Locals nip through to Bredasdorp or Napier for supplies, while out-of-towners often pass through en route to Agulhas or the whale coast. No charging stations here yet, so plug in your EV in Bredasdorp first. Don't miss the whitewashed mission cottages, dating back to 1824, and the town's proud history of freeing its slaves a day before it became law.
