Earlston sits along the A68 trunk road in the Scottish Borders, about 35 miles southeast of Edinburgh. The A6105 connects west to Melrose, whilst the B6356 heads north to Lauder. Most visitors arrive via the A68, which provides excellent access from Edinburgh or Newcastle. The town claims Thomas the Rhymer as its most famous son, with his 13th-century tower ruins still standing on the main street.
