Eakring

Eakring is a small Nottinghamshire village between Newark and Mansfield, reached via the A617 from the A1 or through Southwell from Nottingham. Set in former Sherwood Forest country, it's known for its wartime role as Britain's main onshore oilfield, where Texas oil experts established the country's first major domestic oil production during the 1940s.
