Dore is an affluent village on Sheffield's southwestern fringe where the Peak District begins. Take the A621 Abbeydale Road from Sheffield city centre, or join from Junction 29 of the M1 via the A617. The A625 connects westward to the Peak District. The Norman church contains a Saxon cross shaft from the 9th century, found embedded in the wall during Victorian restoration work.
