3About Derwent
Derwent lies in the Peak District along the A57 Snake Pass, the dramatic mountain route between Manchester and Sheffield. The village sits beside Ladybower Reservoir at about 500 metres elevation, where weather can turn quickly from clear to foggy. Local routes connect to Bamford and Hathersage within 15km, whilst the Snake Pass itself offers one of England's most challenging drives through moorland terrain. The reservoir's twin church towers emerge from the water when levels drop, remnants of the original village flooded in 1944.
