Derrybrien is a small settlement in County Galway's Slieve Aughty Mountains, about 40 kilometres southeast of Galway city. The most direct route goes south on the N18 toward Gort, then east through Peterswell and Kilchreest on winding country roads with sparse signage. From Dublin, take the M6 west to Ballinasloe, then the R355 south through Laurencetown. The area draws walkers heading to the Slieve Aughty Centre and local trails. Derrybrien is famous for hosting one of Ireland's largest wind farms, with dozens of turbines dotting the hilltops.
