Overview
3About Cóbh
Cobh rises from Cork Harbour in terraces of colourful Victorian houses, dominated by St Colman's Cathedral and its 49-bell carillon. The town sits 22 kilometres south of Cork city via the N25 and R624, taking about 25 minutes by car or rail. It's a grand base for coastal drives to Kinsale or heading west along the Wild Atlantic Way. The Heritage Centre in the old railway station tells the emigration story, while Spike Island's former prison fortress is worth the ferry trip. This was the Titanic's final port before disaster struck, when 123 passengers boarded on April 11, 1912.
