Chapel Haddlesey is a small North Yorkshire village about 20 miles southeast of York, reached via the A19 from Junction 34 of the M62. Set in the flat Vale of York countryside, it's surrounded by agricultural land where the River Aire winds through fertile fields. The village name comes from a medieval chapel and the Anglo-Saxon "Hæddel's island," referring to the raised ground that kept early settlers above the river's flood plain.
