Carlecotes
England
Carlecotes lies in the South Yorkshire hills between Barnsley and the Peak District, reached via the A628 Woodhead Pass or A635 from Barnsley. The village sits at about 200 metres elevation, bringing cooler temperatures and earlier frosts than the valleys below. Long-distance drivers often stop here when crossing the Pennines between Manchester and Sheffield, whilst locals enjoy the scenic 12-kilometre route to Holmfirth. One 18th-century farmhouse still displays its original 1743 date stone.
