Calder Bridge

Calder Bridge lies in western Cumbria along the River Calder, serving as a useful stop between the Lake District proper and the coast. The A595 provides the main north-south route, whilst the A66 from the M6 offers the quickest approach for long-distance visitors. The village sits conveniently for exploring both Ennerdale Water to the east and the Cumbrian coastline. The old packhorse bridge crossing the River Calder remains the village's defining feature, built from distinctive local sandstone.
