3About Caerleon
Caerleon lies just north of Newport in Monmouthshire, reached via M4 Junction 25 or the A449 through Newport centre. Most visitors come from Cardiff, Bristol, or longer distances, whilst locals pop over from Newport for the Roman sites. The town sits in the Usk Valley where the river meanders through typical Welsh borderland countryside. You can still walk into the remarkably intact Roman amphitheatre where 6,000 spectators once watched gladiators fight.
