Butley

Butley is a small Suffolk village about 15 miles northeast of Ipswich, reached via the B1084 from Woodbridge or the A1152 from the A12. The settlement sits among rolling farmland dotted with ancient woods, where medieval field boundaries remain visible. Butley Priory's magnificent 14th-century gatehouse, built from flint and stone, towers over the village as a reminder of its Augustinian heritage dating back to 1171.
