Burghead perches on a dramatic headland jutting into the Moray Firth, offering spectacular views across to the Black Isle. Reach it via the A96 to the B9013 turnoff through Kinloss, about 40km from Inverness or 100km from Aberdeen. The village hosts the ancient Burning of the Clavie fire festival each January 11th, when a flaming tar barrel is ceremonially carried through the streets.
