Bonchester Bridge is a small Scottish Borders village about 10km southwest of Hawick, reached via the A6088. The road continues to Carter Bar, making it a popular route between Scotland and northern England. The village sits in the Rule Water valley amongst typical Borders hills, with good connections to Edinburgh via the A7 and Newcastle via the A68. The historic stone bridge over Rule Water gives the settlement its name and remains its most distinctive feature.
