Bethlehem, in the eastern Free State, sits right on the N5 between Winburg and Harrismith, so it is a natural stopover if you are cutting across from Joburg to Durban. Locals nip through to Clarens or Fouriesburg most weekends, both under an hour away, while longer hauls from places like Stilfontein or even Adelaide show how far this farming town pulls visitors.
