Battlefield lies just north of Shrewsbury along the A49, named after the 1403 Battle of Shrewsbury where Henry IV defeated rebel forces. The A49 provides direct access from Wales and the Midlands, whilst local routes connect to Market Drayton via the A53. The village church of St Mary Magdalene stands on the actual battlefield site, containing a memorial where Henry Percy fell.
