Bartelso is a small farming town of 782 people in south-central Illinois, about 50 miles east of St. Louis. Take I-64 east to Exit 34, then Route 161 north for 8 miles. The town sits in corn and soybean country with a volunteer fire department that still hosts the community's annual summer festival.
