3About Barmouth
Barmouth sits dramatically between Cardigan Bay and the mountains of Snowdonia, where the Mawddach Estuary opens to the sea. The A496 provides the main coastal route, whilst the A493 connects southward along the bay. Long-distance visitors typically approach via the A470 through mid-Wales or the A487 coastal road. The Victorian railway bridge spans the estuary for over a mile, carrying both trains and pedestrians with stunning views toward Cadair Idris.
