Balnakeil

Balnakeil occupies the northwestern tip of mainland Scotland, reached via the A838 through Durness and a final stretch of single-track road. The journey from Inverness takes two hours through increasingly dramatic Highland scenery, whilst EV drivers will find a couple of fast chargers nearby. This remote Sutherland settlement houses a craft village in converted 1960s radar station buildings, where artists work in concrete bunkers that once monitored for Soviet aircraft.
