Ballyleague

Ireland

Ballyleague is a small village on the eastern shore of Lough Ree in County Roscommon, positioned where the midlands meet the Shannon corridor. The R362 runs along the lakeshore, connecting the village to Athlone 15 kilometers south and continuing toward Lanesborough. From Dublin, take the M6 west to Athlone, then the N61 briefly before turning north on the R362. The village harbor serves as a popular launching point for exploring Lough Ree, and Ballyleague maintains one of Ireland's few remaining manually operated swing bridges, which opens to allow boat passage between the lake and inner harbor.
