3About Ballyconneely
Ballyconneely perches on a peninsula along Galway's Atlantic coast, accessible via the R341 from Clifden, about 15 kilometres north. The village sits 90 kilometres west of Galway city, roughly a 90-minute drive through Connemara on the N59. Dublin visitors face a three-hour journey via the M6 and N59. Electric car drivers will find charging points mainly in Clifden and along the N59 corridor. The famous Coral Beach here isn't actually coral at all, but white sand made from calcified red algae called maerl, giving it an almost tropical appearance against Connemara's ancient hills.
