Achnaconeran

Achnaconeran is a small Highland settlement on Loch Ness's western shore, just off the A82 tourist route between Fort Augustus and Invermoriston. The area sits where Glen Moriston meets the loch, surrounded by steep, forested hills typical of the Great Glen. Visitors typically arrive via the A82 from Inverness (40km northeast) or Fort William, with the A887 from the west coast joining at nearby Invermoriston. The name derives from Gaelic meaning "field of the candlesticks," referring to the distinctive tall pines that once lined this shoreline.
