Tubberclare

Tubberclare is a quiet lakeside spot on Lough Ree's shores in County Westmeath, just 11 kilometres from Athlone via the N55. The village sits among rolling farmland with grand views across the lake, and you can take the scenic R390 route from Glassan if you're not in a rush. Most folk pop into Athlone for their shopping, while weekend visitors come up from Dublin on the M6. There's decent electric charging around Athlone, and the local golf clubs at Athlone and Glasson draw a fair crowd. The village post office has been going strong since 1887, still sporting its original Victorian postbox by the door.
