Tonwell is a small Hertfordshire village between Ware and Hertford, accessed via the A119 from the A10. The area offers good EV charging with over 150 fast chargers nearby. It sits in the Mimram valley among characteristic chalk downlands and serves as a gateway to the remarkably preserved Welwyn Roman Baths, where ancient hypocaust heating systems remain visible beneath a modern road bridge.
