Tillybirloch lies in rural Aberdeenshire, 25 kilometres west of Aberdeen via the A944 through Westhill. Alternative routes include the A93 from Banchory connecting through Echt. The settlement sits amongst gentle hills where coastal plains meet Cairngorm foothills, with over 20 fast EV charging points along main routes. The name derives from Gaelic meaning "hill of the pointed rock," after a distinctive granite outcrop marking the area's highest point.
