Reach it via the A267 from the A21, or use local roads through neighbouring hamlets like Riseden. The village sits in a gentle valley where streams converge, giving it a characteristically damp, wooded setting with narrow lanes threading between ancient hedgerows. The name derives from a former tidal creek that once flowed here, now reduced to a modest stream feeding the old mill pond.
