Thaxton is a small Mississippi town of about 700 people, located 15 miles southeast of Tupelo via Highway 6 east to Highway 15 south. Most visitors come from Tupelo for the 20-minute drive, while longer trips from Jackson take about 90 minutes via Highway 55 north. The town is notable as the birthplace of Vernon Presley, Elvis's father.
