Sunburg is a tiny farming town of about 100 people in west-central Minnesota, 15 miles southwest of Willmar via Highway 9. The route from the Twin Cities takes Highway 12 west to Willmar, then Highway 9 south for about two hours total. The town sits on rolling prairie with cold winters and warm summers supporting local agriculture. Its white Lutheran church with a tall steeple serves as a landmark visible for miles across the flat countryside.
