Stoer
Scotland
Stoer perches on Scotland's wild northwest coast in Sutherland, reached by single-track roads that wind through some of the Highlands' most remote terrain. From Inverness, it's a long drive via the A9, A894, and A837 before turning west on minor roads through Assynt. Most visitors approach from Lochinver, about 15km away, though the journey from anywhere substantial requires careful planning. The 1870 lighthouse at Stoer Head stands 60 metres above dramatic red sandstone cliffs.
