Steilacoom is Washington's oldest incorporated town, sitting on Puget Sound about 15 miles south of Tacoma. Take I-5 to Exit 129, then head west on Steilacoom Boulevard to reach this waterfront community of 6,700. The town sits between McChord Air Force Base and the Tacoma Narrows, making it popular with military families. The original 1854 territorial courthouse still operates as a museum on Main Street.
