Stanydale lies on Mainland Shetland's west side, about 20 kilometres northwest of Lerwick via the A970 and A971. The route passes Tingwall Airport and typical Shetland moorland, taking roughly 25 minutes in decent weather. It's a key link between scattered communities like Gruting and Bixter, with approximately 4 EV charging points available locally. The settlement houses a remarkable 5,000-year-old Neolithic temple complex with a distinctive heel-shaped structure that's older than Stonehenge.
