St Leonard's occupies Edinburgh's historic Southside, just below the Old Town between the Meadows and Arthur's Seat. Reach it via the A7 through Newington from the bypass, or directly from the city centre down Nicolson Street. The area offers tree-lined Victorian streets with traditional tenements, though parking requires patience in the narrow roads. The neighbourhood takes its name from a medieval pilgrim hospital whose 12th-century chapel ruins remain tucked behind modern housing on St Leonard's Lane.
