Spink is a handy stop along the N7 motorway in County Laois, about 80 kilometres southwest of Dublin on the main Dublin-Limerick route. You can reach it easily from the capital via the N7, or from Cork by taking the N8 north to Portlaoise then joining the N7. Local roads like the R445 connect it to nearby Laois towns. The settlement offers good charging options for electric cars, with around 25 fast chargers in the area, making it a practical break on longer journeys. The name comes from the Irish "An Spionc," meaning "the finch," after the songbirds that fill the local hedgerows.
