Shilburn nestled in Northumberland's Pennines, just off the A686 from Hexham. The town sits amongst typical fell country, with the North Pennines providing dramatic moorland backdrops. Most visitors arrive via the A69 and A686 route, though the scenic B6295 from Alston offers an alternative for those not in a hurry. The Roman Baths of Cilurnum nearby still feature their original stone changing room benches.
