Scalehouses
England
Scalehouses is a small Cumbrian village just off the A686 between Penrith and Alston, surrounded by the gentle fells of the Eden Valley. Most visitors arrive via the A686 from Penrith (15km) or from the M6 Junction 40 through Langwathby. The village's name comes from the old weighing scales once used by drovers moving livestock along the ancient packhorse routes.
