Sallins in County Kildare sits 30 kilometres southwest of Dublin, perfectly placed on Ireland's transport network. The M7 motorway runs right through it at Junction 9, making it a handy stop whether you're heading to Cork, Galway, or just nipping over to Naas or Newbridge on the R407. It's about 45 minutes to Dublin via the M50, and only 20 kilometres to Maynooth University through Clane. The railway station still has one of Ireland's last manual level crossings, where the attendant operates the gates by hand for the Dublin-Cork trains.
