Rutherfordton, NC

Rutherfordton is the county seat of Rutherford County, located in western North Carolina's foothills about 65 miles from Charlotte. US Highway 74 runs right through town, connecting to Charlotte and Asheville, while US 221 provides north-south access. The town sits at about 1,000 feet elevation where the Piedmont meets the Blue Ridge Mountains. Main Street features an exceptional collection of historic commercial buildings, with nearly every structure on the four-block downtown strip listed on the National Register.
