Rossport (Ros Dumhach)

Rossport perches on Mayo's northwest coast along the Wild Atlantic Way, facing Broadhaven Bay with grand views of the Stags of Broadhaven sea stacks. Take the N59 from Ballina through Crossmolina and Bangor Erris, about 45 kilometers of typical Mayo countryside with small farms and bogland before hitting the coast. From Dublin, it's the N5 to Castlebar, then N59 toward Ballina. The village became famous worldwide during the community's ten-year fight against the Corrib gas pipeline, bringing international protesters and media to this quiet Mayo settlement.
