The village sits amongst the distinctive spoil heaps and engine houses that mark this former tin mining heartland, with RNAS Culdrose helicopter base nearby creating regular military air traffic. You can still visit the preserved beam engine at East Pool Mine, testament to the area's industrial heritage.
