Romney Marsh is a reclaimed wetland in southeast Kent, accessed via the A259 coastal road or A2070 from Ashford. This flat, atmospheric landscape of drainage channels and sheep pastures sits near the coast, often shrouded in sea mists. The area features thirteen medieval churches scattered across quiet villages connected by narrow lanes. St. Augustine's Church at Brookland has a remarkable detached wooden bell tower that has leaned at an alarming angle for over 500 years.
