Rockbourne is a Hampshire village near the Dorset border, famous for its Roman villa and mosaics. Reach it via the A338 from Salisbury or A31 from Ringwood, then follow country lanes through typical chalk downland scenery. The Roman villa houses some of Britain's largest surviving mosaic floors, discovered by a farmer in 1942.
