Redcar is a North Sea coastal town in North Yorkshire where the Cleveland Hills meet the shoreline. The A1085 runs through town, connecting to the A174 coastal road linking Whitby and Middlesbrough. Long-distance visitors typically use the A19 from Yorkshire, whilst locals favour the scenic A174 for trips to neighbouring Saltburn and Marske. The preserved Redcar Blast Furnace dominates the skyline as a monument to the town's steel-making past.
