Rathowen sits in County Westmeath where the N4 Dublin-Sligo route passes just south, making it a handy stop between the capital and northwest Ireland. It's about 90 kilometers from Dublin via the M4 and N4, with local connections through the R392 from Mullingar and R393 from Ballymahon. The town has around 20 electric vehicle charging stations for those touring the midlands. St. Brigid's Catholic Church with its limestone bell tower from 1820 dominates the main street and can be spotted from kilometers away across the surrounding farmland.
