Portacloy

Portacloy sits on Mayo's wild Atlantic coast, one of Ireland's most exposed spots facing straight into the prevailing westerlies. From Ballina, take the R314 west to Ballycastle, then follow local roads north for the final stretch. The route from Westport runs about 60 kilometers via Newport and smaller coastal roads that need careful driving. Most visitors combine it with the Ceide Fields or Downpatrick Head as part of a longer coastal tour. The real draw is the cliff walk to Benwee Head, where massive sea stacks rise straight from the churning Atlantic below.
