Pontlliw is a former mining village in the Loughor Valley, about 15 minutes northeast of Swansea via the A484. The A48 and M4 Junction 48 provide regional connections, whilst local routes serve daily commutes to Swansea and between valley communities. The village retains its early 20th-century red brick primary school as a community focal point.
