Ponca City sits in north-central Oklahoma along US Highway 77, about 100 miles north of Oklahoma City. Most visitors drive up US 77 from OKC or take US 60 west from Tulsa. The city serves as Kay County's seat with a strong oil and agriculture economy. Downtown features the distinctive 17-foot bronze Pioneer Woman statue, commissioned in 1930 by oil baron E.W. Marland.
