Plasketlands lies in western Cumbria's coastal plain, reached via the B5301 from Wigton or local roads through Holme St Cuthbert. The village sits amongst the flat agricultural lands typical of the Solway Plain, with the Lake District fells visible to the east. Most journeys are short local trips to neighboring settlements like Beckfoot and Mawbray, though longer routes connect to Carlisle via the A595. The name derives from Norse words meaning "level lands," aptly describing the characteristically flat terrain.
